SCARD Promise for Qualified Drivers
Perhaps one of the most worrying times for any parent, relative or friend is when a loved one has just passed their driving test and are about to drive on their own for the very first time. You will always be worried for their safety, but may be more content if they promised that they would always drive safely – proving it by signing an agreement with you.
The SCARD/CADD Safe Driver Contract is a certificate signed by the new driver and witnessed by someone who cares for them. It contains ten key points for safe driving and by signing the contract, the new driver is promising that they will always drive safely and within the law. It costs nothing, but it may offer a little peace of mind.
However, it's not only new drivers who can be in danger on the roads. Over 3,000 people are killed on Britain's roads every year, and over 30,000 seriously injured. No matter how long you have been driving, you can help to set your loved-ones' minds at rest by signing the contract.
You can download a copy of the Safe Driver Contract certificate by clicking here. Just print it off and ask the new – or experienced – driver to sign it, and then keep it in a safe place.
Using the Safe Driver Contract is free. We rely on donations to enable us to continue our work of making Britain's roads safer, so if you would like to make a donation to SCARD, please click here.
